At the State Theatre last night for the opening of the Sydney Film Festival, Nicole Kidman looked radiant - however it appears she she couldnt get the design team at Proenzer Schouler to provide sufficient lining for her frock.
It did tick alot of boxes though:
* the vibrant velvet green was spectacular (both in colour & texture) for her delicate complexion.
* the diagonal seaming around the waist created a lovely waist definition
* the horizontal stripes on top also help to enhance a small bust such as Nicole's, further creating an hourglass shape
Now check out the runway version - Proenza Schouler AW 2011...

I loved how Nicole "summerised" the look with bare legs and strappy contrasting (but still soft toned) shoes. The shoes are Pierre Hardy.
In fact, I wonder if she picked the shoes first, then found a dress to work with them - I have been known to do that!
What else did she do well?
She asked for beige lining to bring it all together - black would have been too harsh.
But oops....
But there must have been a shortage of the beige lining...for a second there I thought she was doing a Lady Gaga look!
I would have preferred it if the lining somehow mirrored the hemline of the dress or worked in sync with it, further down....this shorty horizontal version just looks odd!
Your thoughts?
