Peter Pan collar - channel your inner Alexa
I was having a little stroll through the discount department store Kmart today & I did a double take when I saw some pretty peter pan collar tops. They were $19 each.
One was white with a black collar & ribbon
the close up
The other was black with a white collar and ribbon
& the close up....
I thought they were cute & a cheap & cheerful way to dress up jeans, pants, a skirt, even cargo pants/chinos.
Cute & from sizes 8 to18.
Need some inspiration?
On the runway (left to right) - in DKNY (prim), Giambattista Valli (oversized) & Louis Vuitton (removable)
Off the runway - snazzed up with pearls & gems by Hailee Steinfeld (Miu Miu)
Demure on Alexa Chung peeking out over a sweater - you can do yours with a cardi too.
Pretty & sweet on Carey Mulligan
A version on an ASOS frock
an ASOS top
& a cool tough/soft look.....note that pleated skirts are huge for spring....
a nautical look......my fave.....
Add a lace or sheer neckline and sleeve and it becomes anything but demure......like Alexa in Pucci.....
& Kylie Minogue in the same frock - but not rocking it as well IMO.....
Then there are the metal/resin versions...like this Lanvin at $2K AU.
Others.....
an Asos metallic one.....
& you can get them at any price point - in Australia, Diva, Lovisa & Equip have many to choose from......
Tips: If you are big busted and the top covers your decolletage, the the peter pan collar may not be the best for you. However if the top has a scoop neck with a peter pan collar that isnt too large, then it may be OK for a big bust. Small busts should welcome peter pan collars.
PS: Kmart also had the following two peter pan tops for $19 each. Stay away from these.
Eeeeeeeewwwwwww.
