Fitted for Work - Sale Shop NOW OPEN

At 11 am on Friday 26 October 2012, the Sydney Fitted for Work office opened a permanent sale shop at its Parramatta office.

By way of background, since receiving a grant earlier this year, the team at the Parramatta office have been working on creating a retail space for all clothing & accessory donations which are not appropriate business attire.

The floral dress at the front left is a Karen Walker design - a quality New Zealand designer.

A terrific selection of shoes & boots going for a song.

The business attire boutique will continue to operate adjacent to the sale shop, as usual, providing interview clothing to disadvantaged women, as part of the Personal Dressing Service. The Parramatta site also continues to deliver mentoring and transition to work programs.

The sale shop will sell casual and evening wear, denim, lifestyle clothing, bags, shoes, belts, wallets, scarves, jewellery, lingerie, swimwear, hosiery and cosmetics. Currently the store has local and designer items. The prices will be very affordable, being priced to sell.

Here are some examples of opening day stock.....

Mustard Charlie Brown Lili top & Woodford & Co denim cut offs.

The Woodford & Co shorts are NEW, but have a distressed look.
We love the bronze paint sprayed on them.

Summer BBQ? Dusty pink Charlie Brown Lili frilled top & a cream linen look short.

A sample of the accessories at the sale shop.
The red patent loafers are JP Tod's (RRP $300) and
the green ones are Ralph Lauren (RRP $200).

The red high shine lipstick case and coin purse are Oroton and
the pink and black small purses are form the Museum of Modern Art.

A gorgeous sun dress, very flattering as it is bias cut.

Close up on the bias cut dress - notice the paneling
and the zip & pocket detailing. Lovely.

A cream linen look jacket with poufy collar & cuffs.
Terrific for the theatre and for work.

Work or play? Cue pencil paneled skirt with on trend peplum.

A small selection of the shoes at the sale shop

Movies? Brunch? White peasant top with jeans, styled to pop against the red bag/shoes.

Festival? Denim shorts with a floral top, accented with tan/cream accessories.

Black & white is always smart for work

Floral dress accented with tan accessories.

A black keyhole cut dress is always a sexy evening look.

A Leona Edmiston dress, wear loose for casual flare or belted to show off your figure.

A linen blend taupe dress with gold double breasted buttons and a belt. Needs steaming, but
apart from that, it is perfect.

The sale shop will also provide opportunities within the local community for women who want to gain work experience related directly to the retail industry as well as retail, merchandising and management related skills that can be transferred across many industries.
Income generated through sales will benefit the local community by allowing Fitted For Work to improve/expand on its existing services.
The shop will operate in conjunction with the once a month “market day” which up til now cleared was used to clear all of the non business appropriate donations on the last Friday of every month.
Since 2005, Fitted for Work has transformed the lives of 10,000 women. As a not-for-profit organisation its mission is to help women experiencing disadvantage get work and keep it.
If you would like to help Fitted for Work, you can volunteer your time, make clothing donations or spend money in the sale shop. Any & all help is greatly appreciated.
