10 FLATTERING Ways with Black

Fact: Black can be boring.
Fact: Black can be chic.
Fact: Black can be safe.
Fact: 50% of women who wear black near their face look prematurely old and tired because black is too harsh for their colouring.

Fair skin/fair hair? bad combo for black near your face.
Aging? As we age, our colouring softens and black is too harsh near our face.

You can wear black top to toe if your little heart desires, but keep a colour that flatters you, near your face. No exceptions.

1. BREAK IT UP NEAR YOUR FACE

The easiest way?
Add a scarf in a flattering colour near your face.

A Peter Pan collar in your best colour will also work to break the impact of the black near your face.

A feather collar will work wonders if its in your best colour.

2. ADD A BLACK SUBSTITUTE

A black substitute is any dark colour. Think navy, charcoal, maroon, forest green etc.

3. TRY THE UNEXPECTED

When most will be wearing a little black dress, try a black pants suit.

Do a Sharon Stone with a men's style shirt over a fancy ball skirt. All in black of course.

4. WORK THE TEXTURE

Lace is ideal here.
So is tulle & satin ribbon.

Or try fur - all you need is a collar.

Pleating, origami & folds rule for the next season.

5. WORK THE CUT OUTS

6. WORK THE VOLUME

Only try this if you're tall. This look isnt for petites.

7. WORK IT IN LEATHER

8. WORK THE BLACK ACCESSORIES & BLING

9. LAYER, LAYER, LAYER

This one isnt for petites.

10. ADD A POP OF COLOUR, ANYWHERE
