The Stella McCartney Falabella - best inspired version

What: Witchery's "Gerri" Chain Tote in a deep khaki metallised fabric with gun metal oversized chains/handles & magnetic closure

Where: Witchery Outlet store at Birkenhead Point, Drummoyne, Sydney

Price: $69 from $129

Why? Damaged - the same fabric whip stitching was cut in one spot. I sewed up the two ends of the cut whip stitching and she's good as new.

She's sold out now, but Witchery have repeated her & she is on the web for $129.

The only colour is the deep khaki - but its a good year round neutral - not as harsh as black & can anchor lighter colours in summer.....

If she has gold hardware, I wouldnt have bought her - I cant wear warm toned near my face, but the gun metal works well for me.

& I Scotchgarded her......& she's ready to go out!

TIP: Three light coats of Scotchgard is much better than 1 heavy coat

Witchery have also done a new version in a whitish metallised fabric.....also $129

The designer original is the Stella McCartney Falabella....

Obviously the Witchery version isnt the same as the Stella original.
Hence the Witchery version is no much more affordable.
But its interesting to compare the two.

Here are the Stella versions.......

the classic tote

the newer "shopper" tote

the fold over tote

the new shape Falabella in embossed faux python

You know your bag is a hit when its done in the print from your latest collection....this is eco friendly cotton....

the wallet

True texture

Note: This wallet and the black classic tote probably shows best the surface texture of my Witchery bag....the other photos (& even my photos & the first Witchery web site photo) dont show her accurately.....

What on earth does falabella mean?

...from Wikipedia....

The Falabella miniature horse is one of the smallest breeds of horse in the world, seldom taller than eight hands (78 cm/32 inches) in height at the withers. The Falabella is a rare breed, with only a few thousand individuals existing worldwide. The Falabella, despite its size, is not considered a pony, but rather is a miniature horse.

So there you go......what does this have to do with a Stella bag?

dunno.

Dont ask stupid questions.

& FINALLY....

Fakes? Who Me?

Now I know what you're thinking - she's always raving about not wearing fakes & here she is, buying a fake....OMIGOD!.....okay, okay, so occasionally I break down, live with it, get over it, - anyway, this baby is fabric - even though she is dark and Scotchgarded, I know she wont last long - and once she is dirty, there is only limited cleaning that will be possible to get her back to an acceptable state......so she will have to be given away...at $69, I thought she was worth it.

Note: Stella McCartney doesnt use leather and all her cottons/linens are eco friendly.

  1. Stella McCartney had a colonels horse while growing up, she loved that specific breed so much she named this bag after it.
