10 Ways to Transition to a BOHO style

1. BUSY PRINTS - PAISLEY, FOLK ART,
PSYCHEDELIC, MOROCCAN, IKAT, TIE DYE,
DIP DYE, OMBRE, FLORALS, GEOMETRICS

Boho loves border prints.

2. DITCH THE JACKET UNLESS ITS DENIM,
BROWN SUEDE OR CHAMBRAY
The ikat-y print skirt is the only real boho element here, but the
denim jackets helps to bring a plain tee over the line.

Simple dress, with a denim jacket starts to move it toward boho.

The denim jacket combined with the slouchy
animal print bag takes this to boho city.

3. LOOSE FLOWY DRESSES,
SHORT OR LONG

A long necklace with an ethnic pendant earns double boho points.

4. MAXI SKIRTS

Every element here is modern, but the flat sandal & the
maxi skirt give it a carefree look reminiscent of a boho flavour.

Notice the dip dye skirt, the plaited belt & the hat.
They all contribute to the boho look.
Vicki works a heavy black palette into a very chic boho look.
Tan boots & belt, stacked textured bracelets,
peasant blouse & ruffled maxi all contribute to the look.

5. WORK THE SCARF

Keep the scarf print in the same style as the prints
I listed at the top of this post.

Fullproof boho - add a scarf in a busy print with fringing.

Animal prints arent classic boho, but the fringing takes it over the line.

6. THE WHITE SHIRT STILL WORKS,
BUT IN DIFFERENT WAYS

Embroidery

Crochet

If you dont want to stretch too far, try a lace top
7. HATS - FLOPPY, FEDORAS, AKUBRAS,
BEANIES, CROCHET CAPS

8. TAN ACCESSORIES

Anything with a Western flavour earns you double points.

The fringed cross body bag scores double points.
Crochet cardi & long flowy hair are another double.

9. A MASH UP
(a) LAYERS ESPECIALLY MESSY LAYERS

(b) TEXTURE & PRINT,
EARTHED WITH NATURAL COLOURS

10. EVENING BOHO

Gucci

& finally, MINIMALIST BOHO

Note the hat, the slouchy top half tucked,
the Western style belt, the messy braid.

Tan accents, tooling on the leather bag,
off the shoulder peasant top, the hat.

What is unusual about this as a boho look is the
top to toe pale neutrals.
The boho vibe comes from the boots, belt,
layered necklaces, free flowing hair
& slouchy knit pieces.

The hat, the cross shoulder bag with fringing, the thong sandals,
the loose dress, the hat & the chunky earthy cuff.

There is no paisley in sight, but this screams minimalist boho - the colour toning,
the beaded apron, the vest, the messy hair.
